Forsberg, Ole J.
Dr. Forsberg received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Tennessee. His dissertation is published as “Terrorism and Nationalism: Theory, causes and causers.” Since earning his PhD, Dr. Forsberg has taught international relations and international law at several universities around the country. He has spoken on terrorism, ethnicity, politics, and the ties that bind the three. Currently, Dr. Forsberg’s research agenda is split between terrorism and elections. In terms of terrorism, he researches the factors that encourage a group to resort to using terrorist actions in pursuit of its goal. With respect to elections, he researches and experiments with detecting elements of unfairness in electoral events. Examples of unfairness include both an inherent unfairness in the electoral system and a specific unfairness in a given electoral event (a.k.a. usually electoral fraud). At OSU, beyond research, I teach international relations and quantitative methods for department of Political Science and a variety of methods courses for the Department of Statistics. In addition, I am serving as an affiliate advisor to several students working on their dissertation, as well as consulting with outside researchers in a variety of social science disciplines. Office hours MWF 12:30 to 1:30 in MSCS 309.Personal Website
