Timothy Peterson is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Oklahoma State University (Ph.D. University of Missouri, 2010). His classes for the 2010-2011 school year include Conflict and the World Economy (5210) and the Proseminar in International Relations (5203). His research focuses on trade and conflict, specifically on the consequences for coercion and conflict of unequal costs associated with terminating trade, and the influence of third parties on the relationship between trade and conflict within dyads. Additional research interests include the effectiveness and consequences of sanctions, and the impact of human rights norms on militarized conflict.

His research has been published in The Journal of Conflict Resolution, The Journal of Peace Research, and International Interactions .
